Berry plants
Berries are a subcategory of simple fleshy fruit. Therefore, all berries are fruit but not all fruits are berries. Fruits are the reproductive organs of a flowering plant.
All herbaceous fruit and berry crops are perennials, however, compared with shrub species, their life span is short: depending on growing conditions, for example, a strawberry bush dies after 4-8 years.
Any herbaceous berry plant consists of aboveground and underground organs. The root system of herbaceous berry plants is superficial.
